The Ugly Reality Of Poverty And The Guaranteed Opportunity To Get Out Of It Is Here. Take It Now. PT1

An online dictionary described a poor person as a destitute: that is someone who does not possess the necessities of life. Who is always in a condition of want and need. And is unable to take full care of his necessities and that of his environment, whether immediate or distance. A poor person is also an Indigent: that is a Destitute of property and lacks the basics of life sustenance. All the above descriptions culminate into a state called POVERTY. Which is the quality or state of being poor or indigent; suffering from want or scarcity of the means of life sustenance. It is true that there are various types of poverty but I will make an attempt to categorize it into two.

1. Material poverty

2. Poverty of the mind.
Out of the two, the most popular one among the people is the material poverty which is easily recognized and identified all over the world. People that finds it very difficult to meet up with the simple necessities of life are well encapsulated in this type of poverty. And these are the people we are going to talk about in part one of these series. Under normal circumstances, nobody will ever want to live in such a pitiable situation. This state has afflicted the society so much so that many people see it today as a divinely orchestrated ordination from God. This is what is called dystheism(greek) or the belief that a singular God is not wholly good. But you know its not true. People are doing a lot of indescribable things to dis-bond and disengage themselves from this stupendous condition. But to no avail. Think about couples that sold their newly born babies in order to raise a very paltry sum as capital to start business. Think about numerous suicide cases attributed to this draconian state. Have you forgotten that many people are into prostitution because of this? Think of many students of institutions of higher learning that risk their lives everyday, by standing on road sides, waiting for some human gullets and gullible sex merchants. Just to make sure that their education does not go into a state of discontinuance and comatose. Think of there exposure to ritualists and human parts merchants. What about child labour slavery in China, Meyamar and other Asian Countries? Or The illegal manual Lead miners in the northern Nigerian state of Zamfara and manual stone crushers in the south eastern part of Nigeria, Ebony State. Who has exposed themselves to various dangerous substances, waiting to be inhaled. Many of them today are having breathing problems called Chemical pneumonitis. (U.S. National Library of Medicine. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) i.e. Inflammation of the lungs or breathing difficulty due to inhaling of chemical fumes or breathing in and choking on certain chemicals.

Can you ever forget mothers that clamp themselves together at the back of human carnage, called 911 Lorries/Trailers? Paving along the human carnage called road Some of them even strap babies at their backs. While others are pregnant. Or the able bodied men (Ndi Ogbo nmanu in Igbo, Alagbase in Yoruba, Mondare, in Hausa). who always come out at a particular center or junction with their working tools every morning, hoping to be hired for work. And many of them go back to their wives and children, empty handed.

How can one not mention the poverty level that senior citizens of some countries, especially, Nigeria has been pushed into. After surrendering and sacrificing their youthfulness to the service of their country and motherland. Many of them today are carriers of this societal stigma called poverty.

Ok. Consider the situations of employees in both government and private offices. The Society looks up to these people to help them broker freedom from this mantle of poverty. At least to keep body and soul together. And what do they get in return? Drums and bags of disappointments, which stems from a financial disease, called "paltranism". Do you know the source of this ailment? This is a disease that people who are paid peanuts, handouts, stipends and paltry sums of money as salaries, suffer from. People whose emoluments and take home pay has been deeply eaten up by not only gruesome high rate of inflation, paybacks to banks and money lenders, very high market prices, but also by clueless governmental policies.

Look at the way the present so call Nigeria Labour Congress NLC leaders are toying with the fate of their members.

Its taking virtually more than a year to negotiate with the government on new minimum wage. When this Organisation knows that the present inflationary rate has turned the salary of workers into students pocket money. What an irony.
It therefore did not surprise me that the workers booed and Jared its leaders defiantly, during the 2017 workers rally. To the extent that some of them were even ready to impeach and throw them out of office, had it been it was possible.

It has even become clearer to the workers that its so-called leaders use their various positions as a lunch pard to their political ambition. This is why they are ever ready to kill and maim each other during their labour union elections. What a shame.

What of the innocent unsuspecting village farmers who go into their farms from where they feed themselves and their families. But never come back alive because of some rampaging human pests called Herdsman and Boko Haram.

IS THIS ACTUALLY WHAT WE BARGAINED FOR?

It really beats one's imagination to discover that a country like Nigeria, which is richly blessed and supposes to be a country of opportunities, has been turned into land of constrains. From a Land of juiciness to the Land of prejudice. It is no longer known as a Country of succulence but a Land of dryness. A place where the youths are told every day that they are leaders of tomorrow but are never allowed to play a role in today's dispensation. How can you talk about a fruitful tomorrow, when even your today is wreathed in uncertainties and cloudiness. And the same old political Cargoes are recycling themselves and recycling their cronies into various political and governmental offices and positions. The same old faces we saw and the same old voices we heard since our grand parents were born, are still in the helm of affairs, in this country. One can reasonably think that they are back to rewrite the wrongs that they did in the past but NO. Rather, they are here not only to perpetuate themselves and their cronies in office but also to carry away the financial soul of this country, into their personal warehouses and tie it to their apron of selfishness and greed. The rulers and never leaders of this great nation, has so perpetuated poverty in this country, that its now like a custom made cloth and a body hug material. They have not only snuffed out the life of Nigeria's economy but has also gone a step further to cannibalise its Soul. Look at the privatisation of the Nigerian Power sector. They know too well that electricity is the soul of every successful economy.
Take an agency like the Nigeria, national petroleum company, NNPC, that contributes about, 70% of revenue into the coffers of the government and 90% of Nigeria's foreign earnings, has been a cash Cow for few disgruntled elements and cabals in power. Nigeria is really bleeding and their leaders know this but has vehemently refused, to stop this Hemorrhage because, they are gaining from it.
The recent developments all over some countries like America, in the event of the recent hurricane disasters, has opened our eyes to see how much the various governments loved their citizens. It really showed that they truly understood the purpose of governance. And that they are there to serve the people and not the other way round. Think of the huge amount of money that was invested in infrastructures, for the prediction and monitoring of these disasters. Which has been effectively used to warn the people in advance, so as not only to prepare them physically but mentally. This is because they know that a person can be depraved and defeated physically but as long as he is not broken mentally, he will surely conquer all physical obstacles and eventually lunch himself back to the limelight. They say that we copied our pattern of democracy from America, but they will never copy the pattern of American social welfarism that puts the needs of its citizens first, before any other thing. Nigeria is just like a student, copying on examination day from a fellow student but could not finish, before the examiner came. And when it was time to pass the question paper, he had no alternative than to hand over a half copied answer script. Yes, America, whose democracy they said they copied is practising true federalism but what do we have here? A cyclic militocracy, political cabalism, governmental mediocrity and what the late Nigerian Fela called democrazy. Look at the rescue efforts which were virtually faultless. To the extent that the disaster that came not only to wreck havoc but to take along its trail, millions of lives, left with disappointment written all around its path. This is inspite of the despicable toll of deluge it left, over people's properties. These monumental achievements where made possible due to the above mentioned measures put on ground by their governments and the necessary agencies. But what do we have here, sets of selfish, self-centered and exploitative individuals. Whose motor is selfism and egocentricism. Policy makers and policy destroyers. Who set up agencies when their family members, friends and cronies, need employment. Only to stifle such agencies with lack of fund when they no longer have any stake in them. This is very obnoxious and uncalled for. These agencies only wait for the disasters to be over so that they will rush with reliefs that were bought with over bloated invoices and purchasing orders. No one ever talks of rescue efforts. You either make frantic effort to rescue yourself and family or be prepared to perish in the inferno. What an incredible style of governance. The most annoying aspect is that even when these agencies make some accurate and inaccurate predictions, the relevant governments in the would be affected areas, remain indocile and unconcerned. What a world! Are you going to continue folding your hands, thinking that these people in authority will help and save you from being a sacrificial lamb, on the altars of poverty? Absolutely Negative! You better think again by taking up this golden opportunity that this write up will provide and run for your dear life. You must therefore take every necessary legal and right steps just as you will see later, to broker a truce between yourself and this terrible stinger called poverty. Do you think you can become rich by continuously being an employee? Its very difficult my friend. Unless you have already made up your mind to steal big time from your employer. But your name will one day answer "Sorry". After making use of your money to run their businesses, do you know the amount of profit your banks declare as after tax profit? You think that putting money into your bank and allowing it there passively will take you any where? Hmmm, your thinking of the interest it will yield for you. Abi? You are a joker because your are still in a Disney land of unrealities. For God's sake these people give next to nothing. Have you ever tried to borrow from your bank,? And what is the interest like? Is it not like the ocean compared with the water in a tea cup? Don't make me laugh because this is a very serious case.

What about joining ponzi schemes to make your money. Ask victims of ponzi schemes about their stories and nobody will tell you that its like putting your hands in the mouth of a python. RUN! RUN! My dear, RUN! Get up and face reality and stop believing in this deceitful Nollywood movies kind of life, where a poor person jams money along the road and becomes a millionaire. Or waiting for an imaginary very rich lady coming to take your hand in marriage and eventually taking you away to Dubai. Life doesn't work that way because it is a reality but not a reality show. WATCH OUT FOR PATH TWO (2) OF THIS ARTICLE. DON'T MISS IT. The days of poverty in your life are numbered.
